Lio at 6 months (and some life updates)

I hope it's not too late to wish everyone a happy new year! This blog post was originally planned to be published on December 27, but I was overwhelmed with the holiday season and moving preparations hence the late post.

We have officially moved houses but still in the process of unpacking our boxes. My husband always tells me that we have way too much stuff - but that's because I have a lot of hobbies and we also moved to a smaller home so there's that problem with space. I am still decluttering our things - it's hard letting go of stuff but will be an ongoing effort all year round. I've already sold some of our belongings, but I haven't posted the others because we had to move out before January. Things have been super hectic lately. To say that I am overwhelmed is an understatement.

Lio eating his potato puree

Lio is turning 7 months this January 18 - how fast time flies! He started his solids in the second week of December and his first puree was squash (he did not like it but wanted to keep eating). I noticed weeks before that he was always curious about what we were eating, he always wanted to grab our food so I thought maybe he was ready to try solids. I did want to wait until he was 6 months old but his vaccination schedule landed on December 18, so we decided to start earlier. So far, he has tried different vegetables (squash, potato, carrot, and sayote) and several fruits (banana, mango, apple, papaya, watermelon, pineapple, and cucumber).

Additionally, he has been really curious about his feet now that he can finally reach them. Sometimes he even chews it! His personality is now showing - he really is a smiley and happy baby! He always smiles at everyone who entertains him. Strangers always ask us how old he is, but when we say he's just 6 months old, they are always shocked because he looks bigger than his age. He even wears 12-month-old clothing! To be fair, he is already 9kg so it's getting harder to carry him for a long period. I need to do strength training so I can carry his weight when he gets heavier. Oh, and his two bottom front teeth finally erupted! I feel like he's been teething since he's 4 months old. Haha

Last December 25, we went on a trip to Bataan with Julian's side of the family. Lio has been to different places now (Pampanga, Bataan, Baguio and La Union). He has also tried swimming for the first time and absolutely loved it. He loved playing with sand as well. He's such an outdoor baby. He really loves being outdoors and he's very curious about things. I wish I could find some age-appropriate activities for him to do at home so I can lessen his screen time with Ms. Rachel. Lol.

Now that he is turning 7 months old, he has been very active and always gets bored. As a first-time mom, I have been extremely overwhelmed with this little boy. It's really not easy to take care of babies! I also need to change my lifestyle so I can keep up with his energy - I feel like sometimes I get irritated so quickly, but then again, he's just learning to do all sorts of things. So in a way, we are both learning.

Many times, I've been feeling mom guilt because when I started working part-time, I felt like I had not been taking care of my baby like I used to - but because I started working, I felt more fulfilled and grounded.

That's all from me, I hope you're having a great January so far! My first newsletter will be released this month - if you like to subscribe, click here.
