what i wore in tokyo

April 9, 2020 in fashion

I’m trying to publish my pending posts one-by-one because I have a lot. Last December, I went to Tokyo, Japan which is actually my first time traveling abroad. When I was in high school, I was into anime and reading manga. I’ve read a lot of shoujo manga (I told you, I like sappy and heartwarming shiz) and I even tried cosplaying during that time. And nope, I won’t show you my throwback photos because they’re hideous. Lol. So, Japan has always been a dream destination but If I’m being honest, Japan is not my top 1 dream travel destination, it’s actually Seoul, South Korea. Though when I arrived in Japan, I’m immediately amazed by the country—the people, the surroundings, the technology and even the system!

My trip was supposedly an 8-day-trip but it was cut short to just 3 days because of work which is kind of sad. Still, I tried to enjoy every second of it. I kind of miss Japan and I would definitely go back when I have the chance.

I had no one to take photos of me so I apologize for the lack of decent OOTD photos. My boyfriend and Shekinah (my cousin) are usually my photographers but they weren’t with me so I had to cling to self-timer and self-shot photos.

It was winter season when I went to Japan. I’ve always loved the idea of seeing snow but because the Philippines is a tropical country, we don’t get to experience seasons like that. Well, unfortunately when I was there I didn’t see snow, but boy was it cold!

I love thrifting things and buying cheap clothes. This fur coat I’m wearing is actually thrifted. I got it for around 200 pesos, I think? And the gingham skirt is around 100 pesos only. It reminds me of grunge lolita.

I used to be the girl who hates wearing accessories because I think they don’t suit me. But, I’ve been loving pieces of jewelry especially earrings. I think they give your outfit a pop!

This pearl earring is from Shopee and the padded headband is from SM accessories.

I’m also wearing black ankle boots that I got from Shopee for around 350 pesos. A steal, I know! But my feet hurt, too, because we walked too much and it gets colder at night. That’s a combo you don’t want to encounter.

I did a little shopping and scored this GU old rose faux fur jacket. I’ve never been more in love with a color! It’s my favorite shade of pink so of course, I bought it. I actually used it the next day. I also bought a Marvel tote bag from the same store.

I’m also wearing a lovely beret hat from SM Store which I don’t really know how to properly wear but I’m glad it looked fine in the photo. Also, my shoes are from Shopee (yes, I’m addicted to Shopee). I always get asked if they’re Balenciaga, but sis I don’t have that kind of money. Lol.

Anyway, here’s a crappy mirror photo.

I think I have about two more layers underneath. Lol. Though I love the idea of winter, I easily get cold. Do you know where I got my pants, belt and turtle neck? Yep, it starts with the letter S. You got it!

I had a great time in Japan. I even experienced being a princess for 30 mins at Odawara Castle. Lol. There were so many fashionable people on the streets everywhere we went and it was so hard not to stare. Over-all, Japan was indeed a great experience! I’ll be posting more of my Japan diaries soon. x

I’m a huge fan of Japan too, what with my earlier anime and hardcore J-music fangirl days :)) however it’s funny that I haven’t gone yet! It’s on my list, though!! Love all your thrift finds! I miss thrifting now : – ( my last thrift haul feels like a long time ago.. it’s definitely one of the things I’ll do after quarantine season!

Hi Bee! I envy you as Japan is my dream destination! I love your outfits and I think it suits the “slouchy but polished” fashion of the Japanese. You said you love Manga? I also read some Manga but i’m more on Animè on TV like Samurai X and Cardcaptor Sakura. 🙂

Such a shame that you had to cut your trip short – I’d love to visit myself one day as I’ve heard so many good things! I really like this post, particularly your styling of that skirt, coat and the headband. I didn’t used to be much of an accessories girl either, but I’ve really gotten into them recently!
